- For Prefix, type case-sensitive, alphanumeric characters.
- For Initial Number, type a number, which is up to nine digits.
7. In the Options window, Initial Pool ID and other items are shown. Complete the following and
then click Add:
• For Initial Pool ID, type a number.
Values: 0 to 127
Default: The smallest available number
If an available pool ID does not exist, a number is not shown. Typing the registered pool
ID adds the smallest available pool ID automatically registered among the subsequent
pool ID that you typed.
• For Warning Threshold, select a data pool capacity threshold between 20% and 95%.
Default: 80%
The pool you created is added to the Selected Pools table.
8. Click Finish.
9. In the Confirm window, for Go to tasks window for status, select to open the Tasks window,
and then click Apply.
The pool is created.

Creating V-VOLs
The V-VOL is the paired volume of the pool VOL. You must create a V-VOL before you can create
the pair.
1. The following tab windows shows with which LDEVs you can create:
• The LDEV tab when selecting Logical Devices
• The Pool tab when selecting Pool
2. Click Create LDEVs.
3. In the Create LDEVs window, confirm and complete the following:
• For Provisioning Type, confirm that BC/SS is selected. If it is not selected, select Snapshot
from the menu.
• For System Type, confirm that OPEN is selected.
NOTE: OPEN is the fixed value.
• For Emulation Type, confirm that OPEN-V is selected.
NOTE: OPEN-V is the fixed value.
• For LDEV capacity, type the capacity of the V-VOL.
Type the number within the range of capacity shown below the text box. You can use
decimals up to two decimal places. To change the LDEV capacity unit, use the unit capacity
menu.
