Fast Snap shared memory requirements
FS requires dedicated shared memory for the FS pair management area. The FS pair management
area is an area used to store information for associating FS pairs. This area is automatically created
when you install shared memory.
The following is a list of the shared memory requirements:
• A minimum of 16 GB shared memory that consists of two sections.
• To use a pool or V-VOL with a capacity of more than 1.1 PB, then shared memory must be
installed. Pool or V-VOL capacity requires an expanded status of the installed shared memory.
If a DP/DT Extension is required, your service representative must install the shared memory.
For more information about installing the shared memory, contact HP Technical Support.
Removing shared memory
You must delete all pools for THP, Smart, and FS before removing shared memory.
Fast Snap volume requirements
FS requires the following types of volumes:
• P-VOLs
• S-VOLs
• pool-VOLs
The following tables lists the requirements for FS P-VOLs, S-VOLs, and pool volumes.
The following table shows the requirements for FS P-VOLs.
