FS pair status and deleting snapshot data
Deleting all of the pairs in a snapshot group (“SMPL” status) deletes the snapshot group. Delete
the snapshot group before performing the next pair task.
If a failure occurs while you delete an FS pair, the FS pair status changes to “PSUE” status, data
is written to the FS pair volumes, and the capacity of snapshot data exceeds the pool capacity.
You cannot create new FS pairs. Delete the unneeded snapshot data.
Use one of the following methods to delete snapshot data:
• Delete the FS pairs.
For more information about deleting pairs, see “Deleting FS pairs” (page 49).
• Delete the only the snapshot data.
For more information about deleting snapshot data, see “Deleting snapshot data” (page 49).
Deleting the snapshot data changes the pair status to “PAIR”. While the pair is in this status, you
cannot store snapshots, even when the hosts update the P-VOLs. To resume storing snapshot data,
split the pair again. Deleting snapshot data or pairs requires time. The more pool capacity the
pair uses, the longer the time that is required to delete the data or pair. The more pairs are operated
concurrently, the longer the time that is required to delete the data or pair.

Deleting Fast Snap pairs
To delete FS pairs, use the Delete Pairs window. You can delete a pair when you do not need it
or you want to delete snapshot data. Deleted pairs (“SMPL” status) are not shown in RWC. You
can use the P-VOL and S-VOLs of deleted pairs in another pair.
To shorten the time when the pair is in the process of being deleted (“SMPL (PD)” status), complete
the following:
1. Delete the snapshot data.
The pair status changes to “PAIR”.
2. Delete the FS pair.

Pair status
The status of a FS pair changes as you create, split, or perform other tasks on the pair, as illustrated
in the following figure.
