RequirementItem
External Storage Access Manager quorum disks
RAID-1 RAID level volumes that have a SATA-E hard disk drive type.
Note:
Use only external pool-VOLs whose cache mode is the same, either enabled or disabled, in
the data pool.
Use only volumes that are in different resource group in the data pool.
Use only internal volumes and external volumes with an enabled cache mode in the data pool.
OPEN-VEmulation type
All RAID levels are supported.RAID level
You cannot register RAID-1 RAID level volumes that have a SATA-E hard disk drive type in pools.
You can use serial-attached SCSI (SAS), SATA, and SSD.Hard disk drive type
If you use internal and external volumes, you can use pool-VOLs with different drive types in the
same pool. You cannot register RAID-1 RAID level volumes that have a SATA-E hard disk drive
type in pools.
For best performance, use pool-VOLs with the same drive type in the same pool.
A data pool cannot contain pool-VOLs belonging to different cache logical partitions. You cannot
change CLPRs in the parity group belonging to the pool-VOL.
CLPR
You can contain up to 1,024 pool-VOLs in a pool. You can create up to 128 pools for a storage
system.
Pool-VOL limits
If a volume is already contained in a pool, you cannot contain the pool-VOL in other pools. The
number of available pools for FS decreases according to the number of THP pools (including
Smart pools), THP Z pools, and SS pools.
8 GB to 4 TBVolume capacity
If you define unneeded paths to a volume, you cannot specify the volume as a pool-VOL.Path definition

User Guide.
Requirements for consistency groups
The following table explains requirements for consistency groups.
DescriptionItem
Value: 0 to 255.Consistency group number
Note: If you do not assign a number, an unassigned number is automatically
assigned.
You can view the consistency group number.
For more information about viewing the consistency group number, see “Viewing
the number of consistency groups” (page 53).
You can create up to 256 consistency groups in a storage system, which
includes BC/SS, BC Z, SS, and FS consistency groups.
(For FS only) You can also use consistency group numbers 128 to 255 (80 to
FF).
You can define up to 8,192 pairs in a consistency group. You cannot mix
BC/SS, BC Z, SS, and FS pairs in a consistency group. An FS consistency
group can only contain FS pairs.
