and the top and bottom of the image are cropped o, leaving a 17×9 “center extraction” of the Academy
frame. The proportions of the source image are maintained.
TIP: This option is also useful if 17:9 source material has been rendered as letterboxed within a 16:9 aspect
ratio source input and you wish to view the original 17:9 image full screen.
The Fill to Screen Width option should be used when vertical center extractions are desired as part of the
dailies or review screening process.
The following illustration shows the visual result when a 3840×2160 source input is displayed on the display
with the Fill to screen width ratio (proportional) option enabled. Note that, as compared to the previous
illustration, the area above and below the outside squares has been cropped out and the image resized to
take up the entire 17:9 frame.
Fill to screen height (proportional)
This option is for specic workows with source video that is wider than the display’s native 17×9 aspect
ratio. In some lm workows it is desired to see a 17×9 horizontal extraction of a wider source aspect ratio. If
enabled, this option will resize the source image so that the height matches the display height. Then the
source image is centered horizontally and the left and right of the image are cropped o, leaving a 17×9
“center extraction” of the wider frame. The proportions of the source image are maintained.
The Fill to Screen Height option should be used when horizontal center extractions are desired as part of the
dailies or review screening process.
The following illustrations show a 4096×1716 source input image and the visual result when that source
input is displayed on the display with the Fill to screen height ratio (proportional) option enabled. Notice that
the right and left edges of the frame have been cropped out and the image resized to take up the entire 17:9
frame.
