NOTE: After the delta resync operation completes and the pair status has changed to PAIR, and,
when the Cnt Ac-J or Cnt Ac-S pair is resynchronized, then the delta resync P-VOL must be updated
from the host for a period of longer than five minutes. This is required to ensure internal
communications between the systems. This requirement also applies to all pairs in the journal in
which the Cnt Ac-J pair for delta resync resides.
However, this requirement can be eliminated by using remote command devices. See Assigning
remote command devices ” (page 148) for details.
Prerequisite information for creating delta resync pairs
A Cnt Ac-J delta resync pair is created in a 3DC multi-target configuration only.
A 3DC multi-target configuration with multiple primary and secondary systems cannot be used
for delta resync.
Use the Cnt Ac-S S-VOL in PAIR status as the delta resync P-VOL.
Use a Cnt Ac-J S-VOL that is in PAIR status as the delta resync S-VOL.
The mirror ID must be between 1 and 3; however, make sure it is not the same as the mirror
ID assigned to the Cnt Ac-J pair in the 3DC multi-target configuration.
The consistency group you use for the delta resync configuration cannot be used by another
Cnt Ac-J pair.
Follow volume combinations shown in “Volume types that can be shared with Continuous
Access Journal” (page 133).
System option mode 506 must be ON for delta resync.
If you create more than one Cnt Ac-J pair for delta resync, the delta resync P-VOLs in the same
master journal must:
Use the same mirror ID
Are paired with S-VOLs in the same restore journal
If you plan to create in-system pairs on the remote site sharing the delta resync S-VOL, make
sure to perform the delta resync create-pair operation first, then create in-system pairs.
You can set a back-up option in the event that the delta resync operation fails. This is done
on the Change Mirror Options window (see the Delta resync Failure step in “Changing options
used by mirrors ” (page 82)).
Procedure for creating a delta resync pair
Procedure 41 To create a Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync pair
1. Install and set up Cnt Ac-S and Cnt Ac-J on the required systems.
2. Create a Cnt Ac-S pair on the primary system, following the information in the following topics:
“Prerequisite information for 3DC multi-target ” (page 144)
“Prerequisite information for creating delta resync pairs ” (page 146)
3. After the Cnt Ac-S pair status is PAIR, create the Cnt Ac-J pair on the primary system, following
the information in the following topics:
“Prerequisite information for 3DC multi-target ” (page 144)
“Prerequisite information for creating delta resync pairs ” (page 146)
4. Create a second Cnt Ac-J pair from the Cnt Ac-S S-VOL to the Cnt Ac-J S-VOL. Specify the
Initial Copy option as Delta.
