Cooling system
HP POD 20c cooling system theory of operation
CAUTION: Using contaminated supply water can cause decreased cooling capacity or
disruption in service. The supply water must meet the guidelines stated in the HP Performance
Optimized Datacenter 20c Site Preparation and Requirements Guide. Damage caused by
contaminated supply water is not covered by the warranty.
The HP POD 20c has six heat exchangers configured in three zones that maintain temperature and cool the
equipment installed in the HP POD 20c. The HP POD 20c receives chilled water from your facility, cycles the
water through the heat exchangers to cool the air, and then the fans circulate the cool air throughout the HP
POD 20c.
A predetermined differential pressure setpoint between the hot aisle and the cold aisle is factory set. Do not
alter the setpoint without consulting HP. The speed of the fan units is regulated to maintain the differential
pressure between the hot aisle and the cold aisle. For more information, see "Fans (on page 62)."
The HP POD 20c chilled water flow rate is not regulated by the ECS system. Site control over chilled water
flow rate is necessary to allow 454 lpm (120 gpm

).

Water supply temperature
The temperature of the water supplied to the HP POD 20c must be 13ºC to 24ºC (55ºF to 75ºF). Freezing
water can cause a blockage and damage to the POD.
