A variation of this capture process is useful if
you want to retain the image on your
calculator. Pressing ON+PLOT stores the
image into graphics object G0. This can then
be pasted into a sketch using the VARS menu.
From the Sketch view, press VARS and then
the key. Scroll down to the Graphics variables and select G0. Now
press and then ENTER. The image will be pasted into your sketch and
you can then use the drawing tools to edit it. Using a Paint program is easier
and quicker.
Editing Notes with the Aplet Development Kit
Free software is available to let you edit Notes and aplets on a Windows
computer from any of the hp 38g, hp 39g, hp 40g or hp 39g+. This software
is called the Aplet Development Kit (ADK) and it is also used to create and
program aplets. Here we will look only at using it to edit Notes. Similar
software will probably become available for the Macintosh computers but was
not available at the time of writing.
Since the aplets are the same for the hp 39g, hp 40g and hp 39g+ the can all
be edited by the ADK. The only difference for the hp 39g+ is that the software
used to get it onto the computer is different. See page 203.
If you have downloaded, installed and run
the ADK software you should see the screen
shown right.
Using either the File menu or the button,
open the directory window and work your
way into the directory in which you have
stored your Note file. Highlight it and click on the Open button.
You can now type your text into the Note using the normal computer
keyboard. The special characters that are normally available from the CHARS
view are also available via the button.
When you’ve finished editing you can use the Connectivity Software to
transfer the result back to the calculator.
