Reconnecting an external path
You can reconnect an external path that was disconnected. You reconnect paths either to a port
on the local system or to a WWN on the external system. When you reconnect, original path
settings are resumed.
Prerequisite information
Make sure the path is in a status that can be restored.
Procedure 10 To reconnect an external path to an external volume
1. In Remote Web Console, click External Storages in the Storage Systems tree.
2. In the External Storages window, select the External Paths tab.
3. Select a path row, then click Reconnect External Paths at the bottom of the window.
4. In the Reconnect External Paths window, select one of the following:
By Ports to reconnect all external paths connected to the specified port in the local storage
system.
By External WWNs to reconnect all external paths connected to the specified WWNs
(ports) in the external storage system.
5. Click Finish.
6. In the Confirm window, check settings, accept or enter a new task name, and then click Apply.
Changing the cache mode setting of the external volume
You can change the cache mode of the external volume in the Edit External Volumes window.
Prerequisites
Before changing the cache mode of the external volume, check each item listed in the following
table.

If an external volume is a part of a LUSE volume, the cache mode setting should be
the same among all volumes that constitute a LUSE volume.

When the bind mode is set, you cannot change the cache mode from Enable to
Disable. To change the cache mode to Disable, cancel the setting for Cache
Residency Manager or change the cache residency mode to the priority mode.

When a volume is registered to a pool as a pool volume, the cache mode setting
should be the same among all the pool volumes in the pool.

When the volume is a remote command device, you cannot change the cache mode
from Disable to Enable.

The cache mode of external volume whose attribute is set to online data migration
cannot be changed.

To change the cache mode setting
1. Click External Storage in the Storage Systems tree.
The list of available external storage systems appear in the tree.
2. In the tree, select an external storage system.
The path groups corresponding to the external storage system appear.
