adapter that requires manual
setup and restart for
recognizing the raw device.
Editing the environment setup file of the host
bus adapter
Setting up the host bus adapter using a
configuration utility
Rebooting with a reconfiguration option
If you are using Dynamic Link Manager, in addition
to the tasks for the HBA, see the Dynamic Link
Manager documentation to update the configuration
definition file by executing the
/opt/DynamicLinkManager/bin/
dlmsetconf command and restarting the system.
If VERITAS™ Volume Manager is used on the
Solaris™ host that is not using Dynamic Link
Manager, then in addition to the tasks for the HBA,
the device is initialized for VERITAS™ Volume
Manager when you set enable in the
/usr/sbin/vxdctl command.
You are trying to add or
expand a file system or device
file in a Solaris™ host that is
using both Dynamic Link
Manager and VERITAS™
Volume Manager.
If a Solaris™ host is using both Dynamic Link
Manager and VERITAS™ Volume Manager, see
the manual for Dynamic Link Manager and edit the
/etc/vx/vxvm.exclude file to disable certain
paths.
To add or expand a file
system or device file when the
host OS is Linux, raw device
recognition must be performed
through manual settings.
Consult the HBA manual and take appropriate
action, such as executing the following command or
restarting:
echo “scsi add-single-device a b c d”
> /proc/scsi/scsi
a: Host ID (host port number)
b: Channel number (bus number)
c: Target ID
d: Lun (host LU number)
When deleting a file system or
device file, you must delete
the path to the logical unit.
File system or device file deletion is completed
when the deletion of the path to the logical unit is
detected. Use Device Manager and other facilities
to delete the path to the logical unit. If other factors
contribute to interruption, remove them and then
resume the setup operation.

when the deletion of the path to the logical unit is

When the host OS is Linux, if you delete an LU path
and then restart the OS, existing device file names
that have already been recognized might be
changed.
If this happens, you must update the host after
changing the device file name in the /etc/fstab
file and restarting the OS.
In a Solaris™ host, the
deletion of a file system or
device file was performed by
using a host bus adapter that
requires manual setup and
restart for recognizing the raw
device deletion.
See the manual for the host bus adapter and
perform the necessary steps as required:
Deleting the raw device from the SCSI driver
definition file
Deleting the raw device from the
/kernel/drv/sd.conf file
Deleting the raw device from the HBA
environment setup file
Deleting the HBA setup using a configuration
utility
Rebooting with a reconfiguration option
