hp ultrium 100GB data cartridge C7970A
This cartridge is designed to provide trouble-free performance on
any device bearing the Ultrium logo.
cartridge storage
To prevent condensation and for long life, the cartridge should only be
operated or stored as follows:
Storage: 60°F to 90°F (16°C to 32°C)
Operation: 50°F to 113°F (10°C to 45°C)
Humidity: 20% to 80% Relative Humidity.
archive storage
Tapes intended for archiving data for
up to 30 years should be stored in their
plastic container and in room conditions
of between 73°F – 41°F (23°C – 5°C) and 50%—10% relative humidity.
Wet bulb temperature should not exceed 78°F (26°C).
cartridge handling
Handle the cartridge carefully. The cartridge may be damaged if it is dropped
so always check for damage. Labels should only go on the front label space. Do not
put any labels on the top, bottom, sides or rear of the cartridge. When not in use, the
cartridge should be stored in its protective plastic container. Do not store the cartridge
in direct sunlight, near magnetic fields or radio transmitters (i.e. mobile telephones).
inserting the cartridge into an ultrium drive
Insert the cartridge (with the arrow and hand grip visible) into the drive. Gently push
the tape until the mechanism engages and the tape is taken into the machine. Be
careful not to force the cartridge and allow the drive to take the tape at its own speed.
Important—check the cartridge is not damaged in any way. Make sure the leader pin
position is correct (see figure 2 below); if not, the cartridge is broken and should be
discarded. Shake the cartridge gently; if you hear a rattling sound, discard.
