hp-gateway2 [hp-redundant1: standby] (config) #
Note that the displayed ‘master’ and ‘standby’ status is only with respect to gateway management
functions and not data access to connected arrays. Redundant pairs of VMA SAN Gateways act as
Active/Active controllers for data access to connected VMA Arrays.
Shutdown Secondary VMA SAN Gateway
At this time, shutdown the ‘secondary’ gateway to prepare for connecting it to the VMA Arrays using
the PCIe cables. To shutdown the ‘secondary’ gateway use the CLI of the ‘secondary’ gateway to
issue the ‘reload halt’ command.
hp-gateway2 [hp-redundant1: standby] (config) # reload halt
Wait for the ‘secondary’ gateway to fully shutdown before proceeding as indicated by the power
button LED changing from green to amber.
CAUTION: Using the “REBOOT” and “SHUTDOWN” buttons on the “Cluster Admin” page under the
“Administration” tab of the web interface will cause both gateways to reboot or shutdown. These
buttons should not be used at any time during this pairing process. It is recommended to use the
network CLI with each gateways unique “Public interface IP address” to shutdown an individual
gateway.
