Troubleshooting
l Logging level—By default, all processes log only errors and warnings. This may
not be enough information to troubleshoot difficult problems. You can change the
log levels through the system settings to capture additional information to help you
identify any problems.
l Log files—The following files may need to be gathered to troubleshoot Storage
Mirroring Reporting Center issues.
l Install and setup—See DTRC_setup.log in the Windows temp location
(usually C:\Windows\temp).
l Configuration—See controller.xml in the Reporting Center install location.
l Alerts—See analysisengine log in the Reporting Center install location.
l Data gathering—See collector.log and listener.log in the Reporting Center
install location.
l Service—See controller.log in the Reporting Center install location.
l E-mail messages—See publisher.log in the Reporting Center install
location.
l Reports—See reporter.log in the Reporting Center install location.
l Console—See dtrc_gui.log in the Reporting Center install location.
l Monitoring limits—You can monitor servers that are not running Storage Mirroring
in order to gather host information, but you are limited to monitoring up to ten
servers. There is no limit on the number of servers running Storage Mirroring that
can be monitored.
l Testing Reporting Center connectivity—To test connectivity between Reporting
Center and a Storage Mirroring server, run the following command from the
directory where you installed Reporting Center.
dtrc_collector –e m doubletake f module –t server_name –T 3 –U username
P password
Use the following substitutions for the dtrc_collector command.
l module—Use the keyword STATUS, CONFIG or PERF
l server_name—Specify the name of the Storage Mirroring server, enclosing
it within quotation marks if it contains non-alphanumeric characters
l username—Specify a user with access to the Storage Mirroring server
l password—Specify the password associated with the specified user
The command will return data if connectivity is successful or errors if it is not.
