HP xw8200 PCI Segments
The following PCI Segment table defines which PCI slots and system connections are assigned to
each PCI bus segment. The segment numbers are arbitrarily assigned.

Note: If the integrated Gb Ethernet port is used for connection to Avid Unity PortServer or LANshare, then
the integrated FireWire ports cannot be used for connection to Avid Mojo or Avid Adrenaline.
Avid recommends the following slot locations for cards in the HP xw8200 workstation. All
slots (bulkhead positions) are included in the list and they are listed from top to bottom:
Slot 1: This slot is not recommended for use as it is on the same segment as the integrated Gb
Ethernet and integrated FireWire controllers.
Slot 2: This slot contains the PCI-Express Graphics Board.
Slot 3: This slot is not recommended for use as it is on the same segment as the integrated Gb
Ethernet and integrated FireWire controllers.
Slot 4: This slot is not utilized.
Slot 5 - If the integrated Gb Ethernet is used for connection to an Avid Unity PortServer or
LANshare, a supported FireWire Universal PCI card must be installed in this slot for connection
to Avid Mojo or Avid Adrenaline. This slot may also be populated with a second FireWire
interface for connection to FireWire drives.
WARNING: Do not install an ATTO 3300 or 3305
Fibre Channel board in this slot or data loss or corruption could occur.
Slot 6 - This slot can contain an ATTO 3300 or 3305 Fibre Channel card. The ATTO Fibre
Channel card can be used for local storage or for Avid Unity MediaNetwork.
Slot 7 - To reduce Ethernet CPU overhead, an Alacritech Gb Ethernet card may be installed in
this slot for connection to an Avid Unity PortServer or LANshare. One of the integrated FireWire
ports is then used for connection to Avid Mojo or Avid Adrenaline.
